Warm Up Your Home This Autumn - Seasonal Rugs & Design Tips

Summer is over and the colder months are here to stay! It's the perfect time to make some changes to your interior.

In this guide, we'll be covering some of our favourite Autumnal rugs, as well as touching on a few design tips and tricks that will help you get your home feeling cosy in the coming cooler seasons.

 Aubergine Plain Shaggy Rug

Our Plain Shaggy Rugs are absolutely an Autumn staple. With a 5cm deep pile, they are perfect for sinking your feet into.

The cooler weather and dark evenings encourage us to stay inside our homes and really enjoy our spaces. Autumn certainly offers tons of inspiration for accent pieces, such as decorative pumpkins, apples, and other autumn botanicals. It's important to ensure your rug works together with your other decor!

Red Traditional Floral Rug

This traditional floral style combines a number of deep red and gold tones to bring a certain warmth to any room.

Adjusting the design of your home for the time of year will help you to enjoy the seasonal changes by creating a homely space.

Take this stair & hallway runner for example; Perfect for use in your kitchen to make that cold floor more tolerable on a crisp October morning.

If you’re the kind of person who loves to fill your home with trinkets and accessories, you may want to consider a plain and simple design for your rugs, like this one here:

On the other hand, if you are more of the minimalist type, you can get away with having a bolder, brighter design and make your rug the focal point of the room.

Find inspiration in the autumnal colours around us! Mix in some warm neutrals & grey accessories, and you’ll be well on your way towards the cosy feeling we all crave this time of year. Stick on the fireplace and relax for a super snuggly ambience.

Wool is the obvious go-to material for warmth and comfort, but unfortunately, it is typically more expensive than other materials. Luckily we have an alternative. This acrylic rug offers a similar texture and appearance to wool for an affordable price.

While our sisal rugs may offer less in the way of comfort or snugglyness, they match extremely well with rustic themes. Due to the thin pile, these rugs work very well under furniture.

Why not try adding some delicate fairy lights to a vase for a beautiful warming table topper?

Don’t Forget – Material and size matters! When purchasing your new rug, it is important to take material and size into consideration. If you are walking on your rug barefoot, then you will be best with a soft rug. However, if you live with children or animals then a hard wearing and easy to clean rug will be most suitable. The size of your rug is another important factor when choosing a new rug. If you are placing furniture, such as a coffee table, on top of your area rug, then make sure you measure your furniture first so the legs rest neatly on top of your rug.
